Magical hat-trick of wins for Team dsm-firmenich with Charlotte Kool in Belgium

Following prologue success and sprint glory yesterday, Team dsm-firmenich made it three of the best to complete a hat-trick of wins with Charlotte Kool this afternoon at the Baloise Ladies Tour.

Buoyed by their two wins so far, Team dsm-firmenich rolled out of Zulte this afternoon with the goal of making it three in a row. Taking control throughout the day, the team worked brilliantly to close down dangerous moves early on. Despite a bombardment of attacks that followed from the other teams with 40 kilometres to go when the break was caught, the team were able to react and adapt brilliantly, ensuring Kool was present to contest the finale. In the sprint to the line Kool once again showed her sprinting prowess, kicking hard and stamping on the pedals, coming across the finish with her arms raised aloft to take Team dsm-firmenich’s third win at the Baloise Ladies Tour so far.

Speaking after the finish an elated Kool said: “Today was hard to control. The other teams never made it easy for us but the girls were outstanding. Especially Nienke, who had ten lives today and what she did together with the other girls in the final is really impressive. We managed to get the bunch back together and controlled in the last lap. Then Daniek put me in a perfect position and I could do a perfect sprint, to finish off all the hard work. For the girls it’s not easy at all but they are amazing and I’m proud of them.”

Team dsm-firmenich coach Albert Timmer expressed: “It was a super impressive ride by all of the girls today. It was a shame to lose Pfeiffer with sickness this morning, but it was really impressive to see how everyone else rallied around and rode during the stage. Our young group was really on fire today. We made sure that Charlotte was in a position where she could compete for the win in the final, and she did just that, finishing it off for us in a really nice way with a strong sprint.”
