Team DSM coach Phil West: “At 260 kilometres long, Gent Wevelgem can be a real test of strength and endurance. The first 160 kilometres over flatter exposed terrain can be interesting for the crosswinds before the super intense laps around Kemmel preceding the fast run-in. If the past years are anything to go by then this will again be a race for a fast man who can survive the difficult climbs around Kemmel to go for the sprint. Again, we will make positive actions in the race to try and bring our fast finisher into contention for the finale, but we need to be in the front as a block when we pass the Baneberg, Monteberg and Kemmelberg for the first time. When we do this in a good way then we will find ourselves in the race.”
