Team dsm-firmenich are delighted to announce the signing of Frank van den Broek to their Development program, with the young Dutchman officially joining the team with immediate effect and racing in the team’s colours until at least the end of 2024.
For Team dsm-firmenich and Joris Reinderink 2023 was the final year of their cooperation and they have decided in good mutual understanding to end their time together several months earlier.
This allows both Joris to already explore the opportunities for a new team which he wishes to join, as well as the team to reinforce its Development program’s roster with a new rider (Frank van den Broek) this month. Joris and the Team look back to a good journey together and to the achievements accomplished.
Coming through club and amateur teams in the Netherlands, Van den Broek had a good 2022 season that included wins at Ronde Van Midden-Brabant, Niewerkeren-Aalst and the GC title at Tour de la Province de Namur. Those results saw him picked up by Continental level team ABLOC CT for the 2023 season. Improving and developing throughout this campaign, some good early season results saw placings of honour in stages and one-day races, such as third at Grote Ronde van Gerwen and Ton Dolmans Trofee – both of which his teammates won. Then an incredibly impressive week of racing saw him take a stage win and the overall title, alongside finishing in the top ten on every stage, at the Ronde de l’Oise. It has been more recently where he has sprung into the consciousness of the general wider cycling population, with a sixth place at the time trial in the Dutch elite national championships, besting some high-quality riders. Following that up, he rode an attacking race at the road race and countered a strong leading group on the final lap, only to be caught in the last ten kilometres and ultimately finish in eighth place. This week, Frank proved his potential again at the Tour of Qinghai Lake in China, where he took home his first professional victory by going solo in the final 12 kilometres.
